Why Council

Jason with his daughter in 2013
In 2013, with his daughter almost age 3, Jason started thinking about the long term vision of the community and what it would look like for her to grow up in. This, along with his strong desire to serve and add value to others, got him thinking about how he could possibly have a positive impact in the community and help be a part of creating a future vision for the area. The answer to how he could have that impact came when he was approached by a number of people in the area about running for Division 3 Councillor.

Jason loved how the role seemed to be a perfect fit for the contribution he wanted to make and jumped in with both feet. Having always been told how good a listener he is, Jason saw the opportunity to get to know the people in the area better and find out how they think we could make the community an even better one. He felt the chance to connect with the heart of the community and be a voice to take the opinions to the next level was one he couldn't pass up on.

On October 21, 2013, the residents of Division 3 demonstrated their agreement as Jason was elected to represent them in decisive fashion.

Now, 4 years later (and the addition of a son, currently aged 3), that desire to have a positive impact on the community they will grow up in, is even stronger.  Having accomplished a great deal already over the last four years, Jason feels as though he is just getting started!  His youth, energy, enthusiasm, hard work, empathy, compassion and genuine interest in his residents has continued to grow and he looks forward, with great excitement, to continuing to serve them when re-elected.

"This past 4 years has gone by so fast and even though, when reflecting and looking back over that time frame at all we have been able to accomplish, I feel I still have so much more I want to do for my community.  With my daughter in Grade 2 at the Millarville Community School and my son starting there in two more years, I have a lot of years ahead of me and an incredible desire to continue to serve my residents and make this area the best possible place for everyone currently living here." - Jason Parker
